"I have just put the first base colour on the Assyrian figures. I was just changing the colour cup when I noticed the details on the figures and thought to myself WOW!!!! The detail is superb! I just wanted to say this and to thank the sculptor for the amazing work they have done. Comparing these figures to the 28mm versions I use for reference when painting (I visit other manufacturers to get painting tips and colour ideas for lots of figures...), they are almost identical in details, only smaller :)"
Painted test shots.
Note: The officer/infantryman (second from left) is holding a multi-purpose 2 ended weapon. It can either be a standard or a mace depending on which end you cut off.
Assyrian Slingers and Infantry
Note: The last 2 figures have ring hands, which are not yet pierced in this test sprue. The figures are defined by their shields. The tall shield marks them as infantry. The small cone and the large cone shields mark them as Guards of different periods. There are 28 long shields per box, but only 16 small round and 16 large round shields per box as more infantry are needed.
Note: Both slingers and archers come in the helmeted and unhelmeted variety.
Assyrian Allied/Auxiliary Infantry
Note: The Assyrian Allied/Auxiliary Infantry can be used as both allies and enemies against the Assyrians. Shown here are the Allied/Auxiliaries carrying the round and long reed shields. Anyone who keeps up with current news will know that the famous reed marshes exists to this day. The Allieds/Auxiliaries also used the regular long non-reed shield (4 of those are included in the box), and the small cone round shield (must be taken from the Assyrian Infantry box). The Officer/Infantryman carries another multi-purpose 2 ended mace/axe combination. This should be cut into 2 halves so the officer can have the choice of cleaving or clubbing his enemy to death. Both the Assyrian Infantry and the Allied/Aux boxes have all 4 weapons plus an extra spear so each officer/infantryman has the choice of 5 weapons.
Assyrian Allied/Auxiliary Archers
Many thanks to Mr. Andy Gorman (New Zealand).
